A brand new addition to the Saxelby Cheesemongers menu, the cheese of the week selection is a trio of delicious fromage featuring our favorite cheese of the week!  This week, we're featuring a tart and tangy number called Landaff.

Landaff Creamery (raw cows’ milk. Landaff, NH)

Landaff is a real tart... Just the way we like our cheeses. Made from raw Holstein milk, Landaff has the pucker and twang to rival some of the finest cheeses from the British Isles. In fact, Landaff was inspired by Duckett's Caerphilly, a young, brightly-flavored cheese produced in Somerset England, as a kind of trans-Atlantic homage in milk. If only all British and American exchanges could be so sunny... The Erb family, makers of Landaff, got out of the commodity milk game and into the artisanal cheese game after meeting up with the brothers Kehler up at Jasper Hill Farm. Now Landaff is aged for 5-7 months in the Cellars at Jasper Hill, tended and coddled by the cheese elves of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom.  I could eat a chunk of this fine, robust cheese for lunch every day.  And, eh-hem, I usually do.  Give your regular cheese sandwich a rest and try a heary slice of Landaff.  Your tummy will thank you.
